Dogs Available for Adoption

bandit.jpg (3322 bytes)Freedom Farm Animal Sanctuary's dog program takes in dogs in need of all shapes, sizes, breeds, colors. Dogs are screened for health and temperament before entering the system. Adoption Fee is $105 which includes: spay or neuter, shots, deworming, flea prevention, heartworm negative status, and heartworm prevention. All dogs are kept in foster homes until adopted. You can find out even more details about the personalities of these dogs by e-mailing the dogs' foster home, if the e-mail is listed next to the dog. You may fill out an Adoption Application & Adoption Contract if you are interested in adopting a dog from FFAS. Certain dogs have specific requirements, and needs, so not every application will be approved for every dog. This is to ensure that both adopter and adoptee find their best possible match.

Currently animals are available for potential adoption through our sponsor Petsmart locations in Goodlettsville (Rivergate)  Cats are housed on-site at Petsmart's "Luv-A-Pet Center" during business hours. Dogs are brought to these stores on Saturdays from 10 to 2. All potential adopters must submit an FFAS application, be approved, and then sign a contract with stipulations concerning the animal's welfare. FFAS insures a proper fit between the family and their new pet through follow-up contact with the adopter.

For more information on the dog program: How to volunteer, How to become a foster parent, how to adopt a dog please e-mail Dog Coordinator, Kim Patton

Snowball and Belle

Hey there! I’m Snowball and this is my daughter Belle, and we are Bichons. Belle and I are both spayed, had our shots, and have tested negative for heartworms. I am a dignified, reserved 6-year-old Mom to a spunky and playful 2-year-old daughter. We have quite the opposite personalities, but were both sweet! I love cuddling under the blankets and enjoy nice long tummy rubs. My little Belle is full of life and loves to play like a puppy and gets along great with other dogs, plus she’s not a big barker. As a Mother, I really don’t want to be separated from my baby, so if you have enough room in your heart and home to keep our family together then, please call FFAS today, because we are ready to come home! Henry

Hey There! I’m Henry. I’m a 5-year-old poodle/schnauzer mix that’s looking for my forever home. I am neutered, had all my shots and have tested negative for heartworms. I am also housetrained. I have a fantastic time with other dogs and even cats! I get along just fine with fellas, but I really love the ladies- I get along much better with them. If you are looking for a furry fella to bond with and one that will love you unconditionally in return, then call FFAS and bring me home today! Click on Picture for larger Image

Maggie

Hi, My name is Maggie and I am a Sheltie mix so I won't be very big. I love to walk outside and stick my head in the grass and try to catch bugs. I like to play inside with my "slinkie Dog" and I am working on my third one. I also like to play with my ball and my stuffed bone. My foster folks are great but they have other dogs that are older and won't play with me so I have to entertain myself. What I really need is a youngster and a fenced yard to play outside with me. I am still working on the house break thing but because of some family circumstances, my foster folks just haven't had to time to work with me. With a little training I can catch on. I go outside when I am walked and go to the door when I need to go out but sometimes I get really excited and have accidents. I crate up at night to sleep and during the day for rest periods after I have played for awhile. I get along with cats but I am curious about them and the ones around here don;t like that but I don't chase them. The only bad habit I have is that I am VERY jealous of my food so if I am with other dogs, I need to be fed by myself. Click on Picture for larger Image

Josie

Hi, my name is Josie, I’m about 2 years old and I’m a lab beagle mix which means I am smart and fun. I ran around as a stray for a long time because I was too afraid to trust a human, I kind of had a hard start in life but one day I was finally caught by a kind stranger who gives me food and water EVERY DAY. She and hugs and kisses me and walks with me and plays with me and oh my…., I never knew life could be this good. Every night I sleep in a warm bed instead of outside in the cold. My foster mom has other dogs and I think they are pretty cool, I had to show them who was boss, but after that, we all got along fine. If you would like me to come and live with you, just give the folks at Freedom Farm a call and we can meet. I’ll be happy to keep you company on the sofa at night while we watch TV together, and I’ll let you rub my belly for hours. Oh by the way, I’m house trained, and I know how to sit and give you hi fives. Click on Picture for larger Image

Audie

Hi, My name is Autumn or "Audie", I am a big girl who needs a perfect forever home!! I am very laid back and calm and like to be indoors as much as possible. I am housebroken and will alert you when I need to go outside. I am crate trained and know that when I'm in my kennel it's my "safe" place and sometimes I like to just sit in there and play with my toys. At my foster mom's house, I sleep overnight in my kennel because I don't like being outside for very long. But I do need room to run, because I need lots of exercise. I will need a yard with a fence, or could possibly live in an Apartment or Condo with the right owner who will walk me regularly and take me to the park to play! I like other dogs, but only on my terms... I don't like to share my toys and can sometimes be a bit grumpy, but I share food fine with my foster siblings. I am very friendly with people and love small kids, especially little girls!! I hope that you will give me the forever home I deserve!! Click on Picture for larger Image

How to adopt me

Autumn

Hi my name is Autumn. I am a full blooded less than one year old German Sheppard. I was rescued from a breeder who was going to put me down because she did not have time for me and my condition. I have a medical condition called megaesophagus. This means I was born with an enlarged esophagus. I have to eat small amounts, several times a day and sit in a special chair when I eat. That way when I am fed in the vertical postion the food gets to my stomach instead of sitting in my esophagus. Besides that I am a very energetic, normal, happy, loving puppy. I need someone that has a flexable schedule or stays at home to take care of and love me. The " Autumn Chair" has already been built and will go with me to my new home. How to adopt me

Buddy

is a pit-mix, approx. 40 lbs. neutered, about 4 years old. Buddy has a loving, affectionate personality and would be a perfect companion to go on walks, curl up by your chair or snuggle on the sofa and watch TV. He has not been abused or mistreated and is very responsive to correction. He's very trusting and doesn't need harsh discipline; it just confuses him. He would be a good candidate for obedience training. Basically he thinks he's still a puppy and love to be held and go to sleep on your lap. Buddy is very strong, athletic dog and gets pretty excited when he plays. He would probably be too overwhelming for small children and while he has never shown any aggression toward humans, he still might scare them. He would do best with adults or children over 10-12. He has a strong prey drive and will chase anything small the runs, so he might consider a cat or small-breed dog just another kind of rabbit. While he is usually friendly with other dogs, he is dominant and doesn't like being challenged, especially by other males. So he would do best as an only dog or possibly with a spayed female roughly his own size, who has a very laid-back, unassertive temperament. He will need a fenced in yard. Delilah

Hi! My name is Delilah and I think I'm a 5 month old Pincher mix, but we're not really sure. Before I was rescued I went through those awful storms and tornados that came through Tennessee a month or so ago. I'm a little shy around new things and sounds, but I usually come around pretty quickly (except for that mean old vacuum cleaner). My foster parents think I'm super sweet, but they don't like it when I do puppy things like steal slippers and take papers off of the coffee table. I'm working on getting house trained. I never mess in my crate at night. I don't like going potty outside by myself yet, so you'll have to watch me! I love being around people who will pet me and let me snuggle with them on the couch. I'm not too rough with kids either! My foster parents have a new baby and we get along great! Just watch out for those stuffed animals! I like other dogs as long as they're not mean to me (I get scared and roll over on my back or run back to my foster mommy and daddy). I like cats, too, but they never seem to want to play with me! My foster parents will hate to see me leave, but they know I need to find the perfect forever home where I will be loved for all time. Click on Picture for larger Image

How to adopt me

Bruiser

a dachshund/pit mix that was rescued from being torn apart by two pits. He is all patched up, neutered, current on all shots and negative for heartworm and on preventative meds. He is an incredibly sweet boy, full of personality, loves both my dogs and my cats. He is very athletic but also a very cuddly dog. He sleeps with me everynight, travels well, and hasn't shown any signs of aggression or emotional distress. He is very strong and sometimes likes to play rough, so a family with small children would not be a good fit. He is red with liver nose, lips and eyes, 28 solid pounds. He is comical looking as he looks like a shrunken pit or a dachshund on steroids. A home check is a must. If you can give him a home, please contact Freedom Farm. Click on Picture for larger Image

Chase

I’M CHASE! I’m looking for that perfect, high energy, full of love family to bring me home! I am a Jack Russell, and full of boundless amounts of energy – no couch potatoes here! I am neutered, had all my shots and tested heartworm negative. I am crate trained and doing great on my housetraining. I get along with other dogs, once I have warmed to them. But I DO NOT like cats. And since I am a Jack, I’m most likely to love any child I meet-cause they love to play! I also LOVE my squeaky toys, those are the best! I am extremely active, so it will be required that I go to a home that understands my breed and has the time and energy to provide for my energetic needs. I would not be happy spending long amounts of time without interaction or exercise. I also require that any home that takes me in have a fence, as Jack’s are also known for being explorers. So, if you think you can keep up with me and give me the perfect, active and happy forever home, and then call FFAS TODAY! I’m ready to go! Click on Picture for larger Image

How to adopt me

Lucy

Hi there, I’m Lucy! I’m a lovely Sheltie lady between the ages of 6 and 9 and I need a home. FFAS found homes for all my beautiful puppies I gave birth to after being rescued by them from a kill shelter, and now it’s my turn to find the loving forever home that I so greatly deserve. I have been spayed since having my babies, and have had all my shots and have tested negative for heartworms. I am housetrained and I get along great with other dogs and cats. I still have my “baby weight” on and will need some help shedding those extra pounds. I am ready to find the family that I belong with, so if you think you are that family, then call FFAS today and bring me home. Click on Picture for larger Image

Bosch

Hiya! I’m Bosch! I’m a young fella at 16 weeks looking for a place to grow up! I’m a German Shepard mix that was found roaming the streets in East Nashville. I was looking for a family to love. Are you that perfect family I was looking for? I have been neutered and I'm up to date on my shots. I am not quite housetrained, but were working on it and I’ll get it in no time! I’m energetic and rambunctious and totally adorable – I’m told! If you’d like to bring me in and add me to your happy family and love me forever, then call FFAS today! Teetot

Hi, my name is Teetot and they say I'm a yorkie mix. I'll be a year old in July. I'm very playful and love to run around the house with my doggie sisters. I'm working on my housetraining and doing pretty good, if I say so myself. I need a home that has a fenced in yard because I love to run outside when the weather is pretty. I don't mind cats either. If you think I'll fit in with you, just e-mail FFAS!!! Click on Picture for larger Image

Teetot Adopted

Bebe

Hey there, my name is Bebe. I am an extra special pooch that needs a extra special forever home. I am a “senior” at 10 years old, but still have enough energy to chase the cats at my foster home! I have had a troubled past, as I was found in the middle of a busy road, but wonderful people rescued me so I am ready to find that forever home I deserve. I have a few health problems though so I will need a very loving home to take care of me. I have to take a pill everyday for Cushions Disease (you can learn more about cushions disease on the internet or contacting FFAS), I have a few growths on my body that need to be removed, but only the one on my right eye hurts, and I’m really good when my Foster Momma puts the ointment on it. I also have a kidney infection, but my Foster Momma is treating that right now. So, soon I will be in my best condition, and then and only then can I be adopted out. So, it might be a while, but I am worth it! Foster Momma is working with me on housetraning. I tell her when I need to go out and I tell her when I’m ready to come in, and I have to potty quite a bit. I don’t bark much either, pretty much only when I want in and outside. I have been spayed and given my shots and tested negative for heartworms, so that’s a plus! I’m laid back, calm cool and collected pooch that gets along great with other pooches, not sure about kids, and I’d rather chase a cat than snuggle it. But I’m almost ready for that home I deserve. Could you be the right home for me? If you would like to care for me in my golden years in return for heart full of love for you, then call Freedom Farm today! Also – since I am a special case with Freedom Farm, and have higher than average medical bills, I would like to ask that if you can’t adopt me, then you can help me by donating to my medical fund. The Freedom Farm people are always greatufl when someone wants to help one of us. Click on Picture for larger Image

Molly

Hey there! I’m Molly! I’m a 5-year-old lab mix. and I’m looking for a forever home. I’ve been spayed, had all my shots, I’m housetrained, and since I’m no longer a puppy – I don’t even chew things anymore! I also have tested negative for heartworms. My previous parent had to return me to Freedom Farm cause she could no longer care for me, so I need a home that I wont’ ever have to leave again. I’ve been told that I’m really sweet and I love to play with cats! The perfect home for me would be a home where I am the only pet and where there are no small children – I like older kids just fine, but not younger ones – they scare me! I need someone that can keep up with my love of exercise as well, as I could shed a pound or two to keep my girlish figure healthy. If you’re interested in giving me the forever home I deserve, then call FFAS TODAY! Click on Picture for larger Image

How to adopt me

Snickers

is a 4 year old Chocolate Lab and Irish Setter mix. He is very sweet and loves to shake hands. Snickers needs a family of his very own. He is very loving and wants someone to share his life with. Snickers has mainly been an outside dog but would love a home were he could hang out with his family. He has been housetrained. Snickers is good with other dogs and is good with cats with proper introduction. He loves to open the gate to your fence so he needs a yard with a secure latch on the gate. Snickers likes kids and adults but is a little active for small children. Snickers would make a great companion for a settled adult family or a family with older kids. Beau

Beau is nearly 2 years old, house broken and fabulous with children. He is very protective of his yard and his people. Shepherd and Lab mix, loves to ride and is ready to go when the leash and car keys come out. He like to have the window down just far enough for his head to hang out. Beau is an indoor dog, like to sit next to you and watch TV and sleep on your sofa. He is not very good with cats, but gets on very well with most dogs. When the weather is nice he wants to be outside with you. He enjoys squeaky toys but usually pulls the squeaker out. He is a low maintenance pet, very loveable and easy to live with. He makes a wonderful companion. Beau takes his time to make friends, is standoffish when first meeting new people, once he knows you, he is your best friend. Click on Picture for larger Image

Patches This is Patches, and she’s a great family dog as you’ll see from the photos. She is an escape artist and needs a home where she has room to run or a secure fence. She's spayed and up to date on her shots. If you can give her a good home please contact: Shane Austin,615-400-6415 (cell),615-277-3123 (work),Email: Shane.Austin@PureSafety.com.   Click on picture for larger image

Patches is a great dog in search of a great home. He’s about nine years old but seems younger. Healthy. Fixed. Up-to-date shots. He’s a really good looking, unusual looking mutt: 45 lbs, lean and strong, short fawn-colored fur, pointy ears. Smart, loyal, playful, clean, affectionate, but won’t lick you. He’s indoor/outdoor and needs a fenced yard and frequent walks. Not good with small children; no problem with older kids (10+). Likes most grown-ups. Sometimes unpredictable with other dogs. I love him but can’t keep him. Call Tim at 479-8881 or switchback67@yahoo.com.   Click on picture for larger image

Lucy My name is Lucy and everyone says I am a super dog. I was found abandoned on the streets. I am very friendly, though a little shy at first. I love people including children but due to my size and how much I love to play and have fun, small kids are probably not the best house mate for me. I love dogs but I don't do well at all with cats. I would prefer to live in a single dog home or with a male dog companion. I am very athletic and can even jump a 6 foot fence so special consideration should be given to keeping me from escaping. I would like to be an inside dog who gets lots of walks. I have been spayed and am UTD on my shots and am Heartworm Negative. I do love to snuggle and run and give kisses. I have had a hard life after being a stray and now I need a forever home to call my own; could I be the right companion for you? Contact Tam Singer at tamsinger@gmail.com.   Click on picture for larger image

BrindleCoon She looks like a brindle coonhound. She is very very good natured, gentle around children, other dogs and cats. I really need help because I am overrun with animals. We have 4 dogs and 4 cats, all half of which were strays that we rescued. I really want a loving home for this girl. I live in Greenbrier and my phone number is 615-476-1500. Thank you for your help. Sweet Girl My name is Sweet Girl my previous owners abandoned me in the middle of the hottest summer in TN, I was left with no food, no water and no shelter from the heat. Lucky for me a kind lady took me in and I have been living with my foster home for the past few months. I really need a place to call my own. I get along well with other dogs but I would prefer to have you all to myself. I am about 3 years old, spayed, UTD on all vacs and heartworm negative. I am playful with cats but not aggressive. I am a little shy at first because of my experience as a stray but I warm up quickly. I love to go for walks or a jog, and I must be an inside dog who gets lots of exercise. I also love to snuggle up on the couch with my foster Dad. I am a great snuggle sleeper in the bed. I am crate-trained and housebroken. I am looking for my forever home, could it be with you? Contact Tam Singer at tamsinger@gmail.com.   Click on picture for larger image

Charles Charlie is an adult dog with all of his shots, and is current on his heartworm prevention. He is never any problem; he is the most humble, loving dog. We want him to be in a loving home. The best way to describe him is to say that he is a gentle sweetheart of a dog. You would not believe just how must he will love you in return. It is very important to us that Charlie is adopted by a loving individual or family because he truly is the sweetest dog we have ever know. It would mean so much to us to know that Charlie will remain happy. Neely is a very sweet dog who needs a home. She is spayed, vaccinated & has tested heartworm negative. She is very social and energetic so she will need a home with a lot of contact with her humans (who will also be her pack) and plenty of exercise. Neely does fine with other cats and dogs. She is full grown now & is about 2 years old. Her full weight is 55 lbs max. Please call Barbara at 429-1649 if you think you and Neeley are a good match. Thank you   Click on picture for larger image

Titan Titan found us a couple of weeks ago at a Titan’s game. He was injured, dirty and hungry. We took him to the vet and got him the treatment he needed. We also had a full check up including blood work and heartworm check. We also had him neutered, all of his shots and had a micro chip implanted. He is very loving and eager to please. We have nursed him back to health and now he needs a good home. He weighs 40 pounds and the vet determined that he is approximately 1 ½ to 2 years old. Please call 615-585-0601 if you are interested.   Click on picture for larger image

Sassy "Hi, my name is Sassy. I am a young spayed female American Bulldog mix (probably about 2 years old) looking for someone to love me. I am a real sweetie and love people. I can get a little excited but that is due to my needing someone in my life than can show me some special attention. I am very smart, come when I am called and know how to sit. I like other dogs even when they don't like me. I am used to being outside so a fenced yard is a must. Please give me a chance to be a special part of your life."
