Hi, My name is Eireann. My foster mom wanted me to tell you my story, so here it is. I was rescued from a hoarding situation along with 60 other dogs. We didn't get much attention, let alone medical care. I had several large tumors on my breasts and tested positive for heartworms. First thing Freedom Farm did was take me to a doctor. They operated right away to remove the tumors....the doctor called them pre-cancerous. They spayed me so that I don't have to have any more babies. That's a good thing. They have started my heartworm treatment. I didn't really like that. I had to stay in my crate for several weeks and the medicine made me sleepy. My foster mom would let me lay on the bed with her sometimes though ...whenever she could sit with me. That was fun. I like being around people and other dogs, obviously. I need to have another surgery next week because several more lumps developed. The doctor said she wants to make sure she gets them all so that I can lead a normal life and don't get cancer. That word seems to scare everyone....me too. After that surgery, they said that I will need to have another more serious heartworm treatment...worse than the last one....so I'll need to be confined even longer. I'm not looking forward to that. But I'm sure my foster family will spend as much time with me as they can....I like the special treatment. (Their other dogs get jealous...hee, hee). Anyway, I'm not quite ready to be adopted yet...but if I survive all this medical stuff, I'll be looking for a forever home. One where I can stay and live out my life...in peace. Are you going to be looking for a friend? I'll make a great companion. I promise. When you come from a family as large as mine, you appreciate the attention and want to give that affection back. Well,I hope to see you! Thanks for listening. Eireann
P.S. By the way, I know my surgeries and heartworm treatment have been kind of expensive for Freedom Farm...so if you can help at all with my medical bills, I know they would appreciate it. There is a Paypal link on the How to Help page if you can donate anything. Every little bit helps. Thanks again.
